The river buttercup, Ranunculus inundatus, is a very decorative plant which is new to aquatics. In its natural site in Australia, this plant grows in damp locations, in some cases in the shallow water of ponds and lakes. Its most striking feature are the wonderfully formed leaves which are shaped like a slotted umbrella. Like Hydrocotyle species, this plant constantly forms stolon shoots. They generally creep along the substrate and form new leaf stems at the nodes. This gradually results in beautiful groups of plants with a very ornamental appearance.
